You should bring your (clean) mouthpiece to try the different instruments in the exhibit room. There will be many different items to purchase if you'd like, including: an event t-shirt, oils, music, mutes, stands, cases, mouthpieces, trombones and more. If you're a high school trombone player or post high school trombonist, consider bringing your instrument to join in on the mass mob trombone choir that will be performing at the end of Toby Oft's recital. More about this on the next question.

This is a program I offer either to my current students as an additional source of guidance or to performers outside of my studio who'd like an extra set of ears and a different perspective. This should not be considered an alternative to face-to-face lessons. My Online Consultation Program offers guidance to performers either based on playing live or recordings. Personally, I prefer video recordings as it allows me to re-watch portions of the video(s) if needed. After watching the video(s), I either chat with the performer about my observations or I send a detailed response via email. If recordings are sent, I often will site specific areas in the recording allowing the performer to see/hear what I'm specifically discussing.

From 12:30-2pm, Toby Oft will present a masterclass that includes him performing, working with a few students I have already chosen to perform and he will talk about how to achieve success on your instrument.

At the end of Toby Oft's recital there will be an opportunity to perform with him on the final piece, Never Walk Alone. In order to participate in this, you must be in high school or above (college or professional). There will be a 15 minute rehearsal for this from 2:30-2:45 in the auditorium on the day of the event. Trombonists participating in this will put their instruments in a safe area backstage before the recital and then come up from the audience when it's time to perform. There is no need to dress up for this. I'd highly suggest, especially for high school students, to contact me to receive music ahead of time. Yes you can! Toby will be in the Exhibit Room after his concert so you can stop by and meet him.
